POVPOD ("we", "us", "our") runs a global community for people exploring beauty and cosmetic surgery around the world. We take your privacy seriously — especially when you're sharing sensitive things like before-and-after photos, medical context, or conversations with doctors. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

The short version: we only collect what we need to run the app, we never sell your data, and you can delete your account at any time from your profile settings.

1. Who we are

POVPOD is operated by the POVPOD team. For privacy questions, contact us at privacy@povpod.app. If you are in the EU/UK, you can contact our data protection point of contact at the same address.

2. Information we collect

Account information

Name, handle, email and password (hashed) when you sign up.
Optional profile details: avatar, bio, location, doctor / verified status.

Content you create

Posts, comments, before-and-after photos, reels, journeys, pod messages, direct messages.
Tags you attach to posts (clinics, procedures, categories).
Reactions, likes, follows, saves and reports.

Usage & device data

Approximate location (city/region) inferred from your IP.
Device, browser, language, screen size, and basic crash diagnostics.
Pages viewed and actions taken inside POVPOD, used in aggregate to improve the product.

What we do not collect

We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
We do not collect medical records from clinics on your behalf.
We do not require government ID, except for clinic and doctor verification.

3. How we use your information

To run the core app: feeds, chat, pods, journeys, rewards.
To keep the community safe — moderation, spam prevention, abuse reports.
To send transactional and account emails (sign-in, password reset, security alerts).
To improve features through aggregated, de-identified analytics.
To comply with law, respond to legal requests, and enforce our Terms.

4. Sensitive content (photos & health context)

Before-and-after photos and discussions of cosmetic procedures may reveal information about your body or health. You control who sees them: public, inside a pod, or in private messages. We don't use this content to train third-party AI models or sell it to advertisers. You can delete a post at any time; deletion is propagated within 30 days from backups.

5. Sharing & disclosure

Other users see what you choose to make public on your profile, posts and pods.
Service providers (hosting, email, analytics) process data on our behalf under contract.
Clinics & doctors only receive what you explicitly send them in chat or tag them in.
Legal authorities only when we receive a valid request and we believe disclosure is required by law.

We do not sell or rent personal data. Period.

6. International transfers

POVPOD is used globally. Your data may be processed in the country where our servers and providers operate (primarily the EU and the US). We rely on standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards where required.

7. Data retention

Account & content: until you delete them or delete your account.
Backups: up to 30 days after deletion.
Moderation records: up to 12 months after a case is resolved.
Financial records (rewards / vouchers): up to 7 years where required by tax law.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access, correct, export or delete your personal data.
Object to or restrict certain processing.
Withdraw consent at any time.
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Most rights can be exercised directly from your profile. Otherwise, email privacy@povpod.app and we'll respond within 30 days.

9. Children

POVPOD is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has signed up, contact us and we will delete the account.

10. Security

We use TLS in transit, encryption at rest, role-based access controls, and row-level security on our database. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password and enable any future 2FA option we offer.

11. Changes

We'll notify you of material changes by email or in-app banner at least 14 days before they take effect.
